The Master recently visited the headquarters of Hornchurch and Upminster Sea Cadets where she met Petty Officer Trevor Robinson, Sgt Nathan Leach and Committee Secretary Claire Seear, as well as the young cadets themselves. The Master was particularly impressed by the cadets and their demonstrations which included a uniform inspection, first aid training and drills in action.
The aim of the Hornchurch and Upminster unit is to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures, the cadets learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of themselves. Some of the new recruits are just 10 years old.
Unfortunately, after extensive water damage to its base, the unit needs to raise £37k for urgent repairs. The Coachmakers is pleased to confirm we will be donating funds from the summer banquet to support the cadets’ amazing fundraising efforts which have reached £11k thus far.
