Hurrah! The London Horse Harness Parade resumed after a long break on Easter Monday, and what a spectacle it was too. There were 120 entries to delight the crowds at the South of England Showground at Ardingly, on a gloriously sunny day.

Mark & Joanna Broadbent

BBC Radio Sussex captured the day with interviews from many, including ourselves as sponsors, judges and organisers alike as well as some of the experienced and new entrants too. As Master Coachmaker it was my pleasure to make the presentation of the awards and the rosettes to all the entrants, who had been assessed by the team of judges. The inspections included:

Farriery & veterinary for all horses

Light turnouts – vehicles and harness

Heavy horses (think Shires) – vehicles and harness

A particular pleasure for me was presenting the rosettes to Joanna Broadbent, who along with husband, Assistant Mark Broadbent, put a wonderful entry into the show with Romeo and Sidney and a 1880/1890 vehicle dog cart (pictures courtesy of Paul Orchard photography).

Why not put it in your diary for next Easter Monday? It is a family-friendly day out and really showcases our heritage of coachmaking & coach harness making. Thank you to John Peacock and his team.
