The Coachmakers’ Airbus Scholarship Award has been specially created in 2025 by kind sponsorship of the Coachmakers’ Aerospace Awards by Airbus Defence and Space Ltd. There is currently an award of up to £5,000 to support a student studying for a master’s level degree in an aeronautical engineering degree subject with a bias towards space-based applications.
The award is for those who will be under the age of 35 on 31st August 2026, with nationality and residency in accordance with the Coachmakers’ standard terms and conditions, wishing to complete their master’s degree studies and graduate in 2026. The award is open to applicants from the following universities.
1. Cranfield University
2. Imperial College London
3. City, University of London
4. Kingston University, London
5. Brunel University London
6. Queen Mary University of London
7. University of Southampton
8. University of Bristol
The applicant should describe the purpose for which they would like the award, make a case for the granting of the award and state the sum requested, noting that the Coachmakers likes to support constructive project work which is likely to enhance the degree studies. The applicant must be able to offer the name of an academic referee from their previous or current degree studies who could be contacted independently by the Coachmakers for referencing purposes.
Those selected for the short list will be expected to make their case for the grant of the award, including how the award would be spent. No presentation or submissions are required but the applicant may submit a short presentation to accompany their application if they wish to do so, accompanied by a short personal statement which will then form the basis of an interview process.
The winner of the scholarship will also be invited to, and expected to attend, the Coachmakers’ Aerospace Industry Dinner which will be held on the 13th November 2025 at the Surgeon Barbers Hall in the City of London. At this event the winner will be presented with a Certificate of Achievement by a senior Airbus executive and in the presence of several senior executives from Lockheed Martin UK, Aerotron Group, BAE Systems and other companies from the UK and European aerospace industries. The dinner is a black-tie event, the cost of which will be borne by the Coachmakers. However, any travel and accommodation expenses incurred must be borne by the individual winner.
Not only does this award offer opportunities and financial assistance in the short term, association with the Coachmakers is potentially long-term and offers exciting networking and mentoring opportunities.
