23.11.21 Honorary Assistant Lesley Upham
New members join the fold
At the Aerospace Dinner held at Vintners’ Hall on 11th November, we welcomed two members who were clothed in the Livery and three Freemen, sworn during the pandemic via Zoom, appeared before the Court to confirm their oaths, reports Hon Assistant Lesley Upham.
Newly clothed Liveryman Nick Reilly CBE
Nick Reilly and his partner Susie live in Brixham, Devon. Nick was educated at Harrow before attending university in Cambridge. A fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry, Nick previously held the position of President of General Motors in both Europe and Asia Pacific. As Chairman of the Trinity Sailing Foundation Nick works to preserve heritage vessels and support disadvantaged youth. He’s a sports fan who likes to keep up to date with the UK manufacturing sector.
Newly clothed Liveryman Robert Jones
Robert and his partner Cheryl hail from Swindon. Educated at Adam’s Grammar School, Wem, Shropshire, Robert attended university in Cardiff and the Law Society’s College of Law. A member of the Law Society, Robert was a solicitor for 28 years. His interests include spending time with his family and extend to motor sport, rugby, classic cars and travel
Freeman Trevor Cooper
Trevor and Trudi Cooper live in Cobham, Surrey. Educated at Sedgehill School, Bellingham in Kent Trevor is a Member of the London Stock Exchange and Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. He is currently employed as Chief Investment Officer and Director at Naisbitt King Asset Management Ltd. In his spare time Trevor’s interests are motor racing and flying. He has a passion for Mercedes-Benz and is an active member at Goodwood and Brooklands.
Freeman Matt Powers, RVM
Matt joins us from the coachmaking side of the company, and is currently HM The Queen’s Head Coachman. Matt studied at the George Farmer Technology College and the College of West Anglia. He has a degree in Horse Care and BDS Commercial in Driving Pairs and Teams. He is a member of the Tandem Club and Road Club. When not busy professionally, Matt’s interests lean towards coaching horses and driving horses in general, while country sports including fishing, hunting and shooting are listed as his pastimes.
Freeman Jeffrey Stow
Jeffrey and his wife Susan live in Water End, Hertfordshire. He was educated at Cavendish Technical Grammar School in Hemel Hempstead. Jeffrey is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers. Now retired, he can indulge his interests in historic motorsport and aviation.
