Master and guests dodge the storms for stunning views…
You can always rely on the great British weather to deliver its usual unpredictability, but miraculously, despite the strong winds, we avoided the rain and enjoyed excellent views of the City after taking an exhilarating outdoor climb up the O2 in Greenwich, writes Steward Dave Connor.
The experience started with an obligatory safety briefing as we nervously watched the window of good weather we had been graced with starting to narrow.
After donning our climbing gear, the climb offered a moderate challenge up the tensile fabric walkway which we were cautioned not to bounce because unsuspecting walkers up and down the line would have been treated to an unexpected catapult off to one side. I’m pleased to report that we all came out unscathed.
As we climbed, we were treated to stunning panoramic views of London’s skyline, including landmarks such as Canary Wharf, the Thames, the Olympic Park and Royal Naval College.
At the summit, there was of course time to take in the scenery, capture some photos and sip on some bubbly.
Overall, it was a thrilling way to see London from a different perspective. Thank you to everyone who joined us, including RVL Aviation colleagues, students from the Air and Space Institute Newark, and the CharterSync team.
