Leathersellers take Prince Arthur Cup
Thirty-seven teams competed in this year’s Prince Arthur Cup inter-livery golf tournament at Walton Heath on 20th May. Congratulations to the Leathersellers for winning the tightly-fought competition held over 36 holes of foursomes’ golf on both the old and new courses. With 148 players, this is the biggest amateur tournament held in the UK and possibly in the world.
The competition is hosted by the Coachmakers and thanks goes to Prince Arthur Cup Secretary Richard Wormell and his team, and all at Walton Heath for ensuring yet another impeccably organised event.
The Coachmakers’ four – Captain Graeme Hunt, William Hunt, Martin Derrick and David McDougall managed a respectable top 10 placing. However, Master Sarah Sillars, while presenting the prizes, noted that 2027 – the year that the Coachmakers celebrates its 350th anniversary – will also mark the 100th anniversary of the Prince Arthur Cup. And thus, she has challenged the Coachmakers to ensure a home win that year. The challenge is duly accepted!
