First shoot of the season

The first Coachmakers’ game shooting day of the 2021 season took place at the Withington Estate on 2nd September. The days consisted of four drives shot by a team of 10 guns. The team was made up of liverymen and friends, with the Coachmakers’ contingent comprising:

John Boyes
Mike Dearden
Martin Derrick
Bob Dover

The day started out with the team meeting for a hearty breakfast at the shoot lodge. After breakfast, pegs were drawn and a shoot briefing was given before heading out for the first two drives of the day, after which elevenses were taken in the field. Another drive was shot, followed by lunch, then the final drive. Overall, it was a great day of brilliant weather, with challenging but well presented partridge.
