A truly unique classic collection

Some 60 Liverymen and their guests enjoyed a rare opportunity to visit the private car and memorabilia collection built up by Robert and Tanya Lewis during the past 15 years. The awesome display is housed in six barns on their farm south of Guildford and consists of some 80 cars and literally hundreds of vintage petrol pumps, old signs, workshop machinery and much more besides – including an original Dalek! There is also an on-site fully equipped workshop to maintain and restore the collection. This must be the ultimate ‘man cave’!

After the visit we repaired to the nearby Bel and Dragon pub for a fine lunch, at which we were joined by Robert Lewis who recounted yet more tales of how the collection started, grew and to this day continues to expand. Master Sarah Sillars thanked him and his wife Tanya – both of whom regularly race pre-war cars in the collection – for opening their unique collection to the Coachmakers and for giving us a truly memorable day.
