Conference to discuss gender imbalance in the tech sector
A policy conference will take place online on Tuesday 15th December 2020 to discuss women in the tech sector – the impact of COVID-19 and the latest thinking on education and skills, workplace culture, career progression and leadership.
The seminar will bring out latest thinking on tackling gender imbalance in the UK’s tech sector, and includes a number of keynote speakers including Margot James, Executive Chair, WMG, University of Warwick and former Minister of State for Digital and Creative Industries.
The discussion will gather stakeholders and key policy officials from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy ; Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport; Department for Transport; the Government Equalities Office; Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service; the UK Space Agency and the Welsh Government.
It will discuss education, skills and uptake of STEM subjects – priorities for the development of a diverse talent pipeline – and look at:
- Tackling discrimination
- Women in senior leadership positions – options for policy and industry action to increase gender diversity in senior leadership positions in the UK’s tech sector, including board membership
- COVID-19 – the impact of the pandemic, and the resulting lockdown measures and economic disruption, on women in the UK’s tech sector
