Annual Inter-Livery Clay Pigeon shoot
The annual Inter-Livery Clay Pigeon Shoot took place at the prestigious West London School, near Northolt over two days, 15-16th May. The course was shot over 12 stands, some targets replicating game birds and others decidedly technical in presentation, meaning something for everyone. An update to previous years’ competition was the addition of two superb team flush stands with exploding flash clays mixed in amongst the targets. Overall it was a relaxed but very enjoyable shooting day.
The weather was extremely pleasant, and after shooting, teams returned to a rather excellent hog roast lunch and prize giving. More than 100 teams took part, a logistical challenge that was skilfully handled.
The winning team, who finished 12th, was the Bowyers Livery A and the Fishmongers being the top team on the flush. The Watermen A team unexpectedly taking the top score, defeating the Gunmakers. A corrected score for the Coachmakers would have seen our team 37th.
The Coachmakers’ team consisted of Alex Bailey, Andrew Garner, Alastair Boyes, and John Boyes – Andrew and John being the Coachmakers’ joint-top guns!
The Coachmakers is very keen to field two teams next year. This will again be held at the West London Shooting School on 14th and 15th May 2025. So if you would like to join, please email Alastair Boyes (alastair_boyes@hotmail.co.uk).
