20.12.23 The Clerk

Raising Christmas cheer at the Carol Service 2023

The Coachmakers’ Annual Carol Service was held at St James, Garlickhythe on Thursday 7th December 2023, presided over by the Coachmakers’ Chaplain, Canon Jeremy Haselock, his first in office, which was followed by an excellent mulled wine reception and traditional supper at Tallow Chandlers’ Hall.

Attendance this year was a little lower than previous years but no doubt the rail strike did not help our cause. For those who were unable to attend the Service, it can be viewed on YouTube by following this link:

After the supper in Tallow Chandlers’ Hall, the elvish Clerk once again delivered a seasonal prize draw that raised £280 for the Coachmakers’ Charitable Trust, in return for which a bottle of Armagnac, a bottle of gin, a bottle of port, a bottle of wine and a large box of chocolates all found welcoming new homes.

To conclude the evening, the Master Coachmaker made the John Pearl 100 Club Q4 Super Draw and the winners were:

Liveryman John Knightley – 1st prize of £1,600
Liveryman Carol Madeley – 2nd prize of £800

Happy Christmas to one and all.
