Join us for the Inter-Livery Shoot

The Inter-Livery Clay Shooting Competition, often referred to as the Inter-Livery Shoot, is an annual sporting event organised by the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers, which brings together members from various livery companies to compete in clay pigeon shooting.

The event was initiated as a way for members of livery companies, who traditionally come from diverse professional backgrounds, to socialise and compete in a sporting activity outside their usual formal events. The sport of clay pigeon shooting has long been associated with countryside tradition and British sporting heritage, making it a popular choice for an inter-livery competition.

Over the years, the Inter-Livery Shoot has grown in scale and prestige. More and more livery companies, from traditional ones such as the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, to modern companies like the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, participate each year. The competition has also evolved, featuring various shooting disciplines and challenges, making it more engaging for participants.

One key feature of the event is its charitable aspect. Proceeds from the competition are often directed towards various charitable causes supported by the participating companies, in keeping with the long tradition of philanthropy associated with the livery.

The Inter-Livery Shoot is usually held at the prominent West London Shooting School in Northolt, one of the UK’s most prestigious shooting schools, which adds to the event’s appeal, offering participants a high-quality shooting experience.

The competition has become a popular fixture in the livery calendar and provides a rare opportunity for members of different livery companies to interact, build networks, and foster a sense of camaraderie. It reflects the broader mission of the livery to maintain tradition while adapting to modern contexts, including social and charitable activities.

The Inter-Livery Shoot continues to thrive as a social and sporting event, blending tradition, competition, and charitable giving.

We are keen to field two teams next year. This will again be held at the West London Shooting School on 14th and 15th May 2025. So if you would like to join us, please email Alastair Boyes.
