24.12.24 The Clerk

In memory: Liveryman Martin Bunn – 1946-2024

We are sad to report that Liveryman Martin Bunn passed away earlier this year.

Martin was educated at Oakwood Prep School Chichester and Seaford College, Petworth. His family were originally wholesale fruitier and greengrocers, who bought land in Selsey to rest horses and started a caravan park, during which time Martin’s uncle Douglas Bunn, a former barrister who owned part of the Bunn caravan business, established a show-jumping centre at Hickstead, now the All England Jumping Course.

Martin went on to manage the caravan side of the business whilst Douglas focussed on Hickstead.

Martin was a keen driver and owned a variety of interesting cars that he rallied regularly. Remarkably, he was also a regular on the Cresta run and enjoyed carriage driving for fun. He was a frequent attendee at livery dinners but after COVID, as with many, he found it more of a challenge to attend. Our thoughts are with his wife Kathy, and his family.
