Golfing fixtures announced for 2023
Are you ready to join us for a convivial game of golf? Our golfing fixtures for 2023 have been announced, writes Liveryman Alexander Wrighton.
The Duchess of Gloucester Cup at The New Zealand Golf Club, Nr. Byfleet on Tuesday 11th April
This really is a very special occasion and all Coachmakers, whatever their current golfing capabilities are, can participate and I encourage you to do so at this lovely course.
The day is as usual, shared with the Leathersellers and any guests are also most welcome to join you. The cost for two rounds and lunch is £130 for the day per player. There is no limit to our numbers for this our main annual fixture.
Leathery Livery Golf Day at Hankley Common (date TBC, usually mid April)
This is a match where we need to field a team of four Coachmakers to play against the Girdlers, Leathersellers, Curriers, Cordwainers, Saddlers, and Glovers.
The day will be the usual format of 18 holes 4BBB with each Company having two pairs battling for the extensive prizes and the honour of organising next year’s event! The cost of the day will be £125 per player and will include a three-course lunch. Our Captain will choose the team from available players.
The Prince Arthur Cup at Walton Heath on Thursday 18th May
For this event we are looking to field a team of four Coachmakers to represent the Company at the Livery Companies Golfing Society’s annual event. The cost of the day for two rounds of 18 holes will be £140 per player and will include a three-course lunch. Our Captain will choose the team from available players.
The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists’ Golf Day at Gerrards Cross Golf Club on Thursday 29th June
We have been invited to field a team of four players for a round commencing from 12.30, if we have enough interest I will arrange. The cost is £115 per player.
The Coachmakers and Leathersellers Autumn day at Tandridge Golf Club on Thursday 28th September
This is our annual end of summer meeting where we play 18 holes in the morning and an afternoon round is optional. The cost per player is £135. This price includes green fees, bacon rolls & coffee on arrival and a four course carvery lunch. This is a lovely course and a very convivial day and I recommend it to all Coachmakers.
Please contact Alexander Wrighton on awrighton@norwood7.co.uk if you are able to join us for any of the above fixtures, confirming your current handicap, club and the names and handicap of any guests you wish to invite to play with us on Tuesday 11th April at the New Zealand Club. I will re-confirm registration in a few weeks and pairings nearer the time. I hope as many of you as possible will be able to play on some if not all these dates. I look forward to hearing from you.
