The Coachmakers Aerospace Industry Event 2020

9th November 2020 @ 6:00 pm7:30 pm

  • This event has passed.
Free – £50.00

The current Government restrictions preclude the Coachmakers holding its annual Aerospace Industry Dinner in the City of London but with the aerospace industry being particularly affected, the Master has arranged for you to join her and her guests to discuss elements of the industry and at the same time enjoy some Coachmaker fellowship, albeit via your computer and the now ubiquitous Zoom.

Group Captain Emily Flynn OBE ADC RAF, the Station Commander of RAF Brize Norton, will provide an update on the most recent activities of our affiliated RAF unit and a hint of what the future might hold for this important RAF air station.

Honorary Coachmaker, Wing Commander Andy Green OBE RAF, the world’s fastest man, will talk about Bloodhound and the World Land Speed Record. In this segment Andy will provide a fascinating glimpse into the ultimate overlap between automotive and aerospace technologies – a car built to travel at 1,000mph.

Finally, Sir Stephen Hillier, KCB, CBE, DFC, MA, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, our principal guest speaker for the evening, has titled his talk: The CAA – What Next? After a nearly 40 year career in the RAF, culminating as Chief of the Air Staff from 2016 to 2019, Sir Stephen became Chair of the CAA on 1st August 2020. He will speak to the Company and guests on the journey which led him to the CAA, the current challenges facing the CAA and the aerospace sector as a whole, and his personal priorities and thoughts on the future.

Midway through the event there will be a pause in the proceedings during which all guests will be allocated to separate breakout rooms to enable individual discussions before being recalled to the main meeting room for the remainder of the event.

Guests are requested to enter into the spirit of the evening and wear black tie or equivalent with badges of office and decorations where applicable. Guests are also asked to have a suitable beverage available to join in the toasts towards the end of the event. The toasts will be drunk in the seated position to ensure that everyone remains within camera shot.

Detailed timing will be sent by way of an invitation card pour memoire posted to those who wish to attend.

This event is offered FREE OF CHARGE but in this year of fundraising for the Coachmakers’ Charitable Trust, should you wish to make a donation please do so here. Please select No donation or your chosen donation below to book your place.
