Would you like to be cheered and applauded by more than 500,000 well-wishers, lining the streets of London? Have you ever wanted to star in a landmark BBC production watched by more than 2 million viewers? Well wait no more…
The Master Coachmaker invites Liverymen and their guests, both young and old, to be part of the Lord Mayor’s Show, joining other Livery Companies in leading the new Lord Mayor of London, our very own Alderman Alastair King, through the City in the magnificent gold state coach. The three-mile route travels from Bank to Aldwych, via St Paul’s, and then returns along Embankment.
To complete the Coachmakers’ entry we will be walking alongside the Millennium Coach. Completed in 2001, the coach was built by Fenix Carriages in a traditional manner, with construction taking nearly 3,000 man-hours. The coach is currently displayed, on behalf of its owners, as part of the collection at Fenix Carriages in Devon.
To celebrate Alderman Alastair King’s election as Lord Mayor, we will also be joined by four of his other Livery Companies, who will walk alongside us. Please do make a big effort to come and support your Livery, and the new Lord Mayor, in the City of London’s most spectacular event of the year. This year is all the more special given the Lord Mayor is a Coachmaker and we don’t want to be outdone by Alderman King’s other liveries!
Alternatively, if you wish to watch this magnificent procession from the Lord Mayor’s enclosure by St Paul’s Cathedral, please contact Honorary Assistant Richard Robinson directly for more information.
For those who wish to join, a restaurant will be reserved in the City for a late lunch after the Show. Participation in the Show is free of charge, but it is essential Liverymen book their places here.
