Join us for an exciting day of Wessex aviation, with a visit to the Army Flying Museum, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of QinetiQ/MOD Boscombe Down, including the Empire Test Pilots’ School.
Wednesday 16th April 2025
Meet: 9.30am at the Army Flying Museum, Middle Wallop, Hampshire, SO20 8FB
Dress: Smart casual
Our day will commence with a tour of the award-winning Army Flying Museum at Middle Wallop, which tells the story of British Army aviation, and houses a display of over 35 fixed wing and rotary aircraft. After spending the morning exploring the museum, and taking coffee at the Apache café, we will retire to a country pub for lunch.
We will then proceed to MOD Boscombe Down, where will be hosted by site operators QinetiQ Group PLC, the defence and security specialist responsible for testing and evaluating new technologies to ensure the defence of the realm. This includes management of the world famous Empire Test Pilots’ School (ETPS), where QinetiQ has trained over 1,500 students from more than 32 countries.
Uniquely, we will have the honour of a highly privileged behind-the-scenes tour by QinetiQ’s Aviation Operations Director, with responsibility for testing and evaluation, who will share his experience and insights with the attendees. It promises to be a memorable day for all those with an interest in defence aviation.
Coachmakers and guests are welcome to attend this unique event. However the spaces are only limited to 20, please book early to avoid disappointment. An up-to-date British driving licence or British passport will be required for access to MOD Boscombe Down. Please could any attendees also inform the Company if they hold an MOD Form 90 or Veterans’ ID Card.
The cost is just £26 a head, which excludes the cost of a pub lunch.
