Take a unique private group tour of the oldest aircraft museum in the UK, followed by a handsome lunch.
Aviation first came to Salisbury Hall in October 1939, as a security precaution and utilised local craftsmen and furniture makers to build the partly ‘wooden’ Mosquito. Indeed Sir Geoffrey de Havilland flew the Mosquito Night Fighter W4052 (on display at the museum) out of the adjacent field.
The museum is special in that it is dedicated exclusively to the de Havilland brand. It has an extraordinary eclectic range of aircraft designed and built by the company.
This covers exhibits of early flight in 1910, to pre-war aircraft such at the DH Comet Racer, DH Humming Bird, DH Autogiro and DH Dragon Rapide. Three rare Mosquitos are on display as well a Horsa Glider. In the new Euro Lottery funded-hall are examples of the DH Sea Vixen, Venom, Vampire and Comet. The most modern planes are examples of the DH Trident and BA 146.
Enjoy aviation heaven for a day!
