BREAKING SPEED AND GENDER BARRIERS
The Master invites you, your family and friends to join her online and share the drama, technology and high speed sport of top level motorcycle racing with Maria Costello MBE, Britain’s top female motorcycle racer. Among her many honours Maria is a Past President of the TT Riders’ Association and has a wealth of stories to share with you about the exciting sport of motorcycle racing.
Maria Costello has raced in all the motorcycling disciplines, from the junior classes up to the senior, including piloting a sidecar outfit around the Isle of Man Mountain Course (see photo). She now rides regularly for BMW Classic and is a fixture in the Goodwood Revival and Members’ Meeting bike races; she is also ever present at other major motorcycling events around the world.
Maria will open the evening with a talk about her experiences, from the early days gaining her racing reputation, finding sponsors along the way, achieving success for which she was awarded her MBE. The floor will then be opened for questions, ideas and thoughts about the sport from Liverymen and your guests.
Your host for the evening via Zoom will be Liveryman Christopher Tate, something of a motorsport veteran himself, and we are sure that the evening will be fascinating experience for Coachmakers to learn about a very special world of engineering, sport, and struggle against the odds.
