Delivering Royal Marines – differently

847 Naval Air Squadron is part of the Commando Helicopter Force based at RNAS Yeovilton, Somerset. Elements of the Squadron with their Commando Wildcat (BRH) helicopters are currently on board RFA Lyme Bay participating in LRGX (Littoral Response Group (Experimentation)).

42 Commando carries out operations with 847 NAS Commando Wildcat

This is a multinational exercise to forge the commando forces for tomorrow and the exercise is taking place in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

Whilst in Gibraltar 847 NAS exercised elements of 42 Commando in abseiling and fast roping out of their Commando Wildcat helicopters. As the Commando Helicopter Force’s primary customer is 3 Commando Brigade it was an invaluable opportunity to continue to work and train together on a major exercise with partnering nations.
