Coachmakers’ scholarship winner gains pilot’s licence
Selma Grage was awarded the Coachmakers’ De Havilland Scholarship in 2022 and has recently completed her Private Pilot’s Licence training with Cambridge Flying Group.
Selma is a cornerstone member of the Cambridge Flying Group and works part time at the Aerial Collective at Duxford, supporting classic aircraft in addition to her main employment at Cambridge City Airport. Selma is active in preserving classic aircraft operations and now has her own pilot’s licence to add to her skills.
“I have closed the first chapter of my flying journey after two years of training filled with ups (sunshine and calm weather), downs (mainly rain, clouds and crosswinds) and plenty of growth – I’m thrilled that I’ve successfully passed my Private Pilot’s Licence skills test.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way: the instructional team at CFG, the ground crew and volunteers, and, most of all, a huge thanks to the Coachmakers for giving me the opportunity to learn to fly these wonderful machines. It’s been a huge privilege and even though it might’ve taken longer than the ‘conventional’ PPL I wouldn’t change it for a thing.
“I’m very excited to see what the next chapter in my flying career will bring. Onwards and upwards.”
Selma is a very capable young pilot who is yet another worthy member of the Coachmakers’ Aerospace Awards alumni.
