A successful game shoot

The Coachmakers’ game shooting day of the 2025/26 season took place at the Teffont Magna estate in Wiltshire on 10th September. The day consisted of four drives shot by a team of eight guns. The team was made up of Coachmakers and friends comprising:

Helen Hoffman
Joe Baguley
Nick Brayshaw
Bob Dover
Mike Dearden
Christopher Tate
Peter Zanatta
Alastair Boyes

The night before the shoot the team met for a rather good steak, wine and plenty of great conversation at The Lamb, Hindon. The day started with a safety briefing and tea/coffee at the shoot lodge. The pegs were drawn and the team headed out for the first two drives of the day, after which elevenses were taken in the field. Another drive was followed by lunch and then the final drive of the day. Overall, it was a great day out and luckily the rain mainly held off. There were some great shots and some easy shots missed. The shooting comprised challenging but well presented partridge driven across hedgerow, woodland and valleys.

With a busy game shooting season for many Coachmakers this year, the next Coachmakers’ shooting event will be at Honesberie Shooting School, Warwickshire, on Saturday 28th March. The form for the day shall be to meet for breakfast at 10am at the shooting school, followed by informal shooting of 100 clays or so, with a bit of banter and competition. Following shooting, lunch will be taken at the Red Lion in Hellidon, with the aim of the day to finish around 2pm in the afternoon. All are welcome to join what should be an entertaining day of shooting, good company and a nice lunch.
