A letter from the Editor – May 2026

Dear readers,

As summer approaches and we look ahead to the Charity Banquet in June, it is hard not to reflect on just how quickly this Livery year has passed. Before long, we shall find ourselves entering the final stretch of the year – and, before we know it, that too will have slipped by. It seems the only thing to have come and gone faster than our Livery year has been the British summer itself, which appeared all a sudden last Tuesday afternoon and is, we hope, planning a slightly longer stay.

The Senior Warden’s message highlights some of the exciting plans already taking shape for next year’s 350th anniversary celebrations. Yet there is still much to enjoy, support and participate in during the remainder of this current Livery year, and I encourage everyone to make the most of the many opportunities the Company continues to offer.

The Communications Committee remains central to helping co-ordinate, inform and connect members across the Company. Planning for the first pan-Committee Webinar is already well under way, with detailed guidance to be shared with other Committees during the first week of June.

Let us remain informed, involved and supportive — making the most of what is on offer, contributing to the Company’s charitable endeavours, and celebrating the remarkable traditions that have sustained the Company across 350 years.

As the strawberries ripen and the summer sporting calendar swings into full gear, I shall be heading to French Open for the final week at Roland Garros. May I wish you all a fantastic start of the summer, filled with sunshine, good company, excellent tennis, and heatwaves that remain safely within the tolerable British limit of 24°C.

Yours sincerely,

Editor,
Lyn
