The Coachmakers’ Banquet 2023
Celebrating 100 Years of British Success at the Le Mans 24 Hours Race
How goes the planning?
So far, the following drivers have agreed to attend:
Derek Bell MBE, Martin Brundle, Richard Attwood, Jackie Oliver, Derek Warwick, Andy Wallace and David Brabham.
We shall have the 2003 winning Bentley with the winner’s trophy on the stage in the Great Hall on display throughout the event.
Four other significant Le Mans race cars will be in the Guildhall yard for you to admire on arrival while you wait to go into the Guildhall. These include:
A 1955 Jaguar Long Nose D Type
A 1987 Rothmans Porsche 962 (raced by one D. Bell)
A 1988 Silk Cut Jaguar XJR 9 (sister car to the winner that year) and,
A 2007 Lola Aston Martin in Gulf colours.
Add to that a top meal, lots of Champagne and wine throughout the night, a prize draw with five tip top prizes with a Le Mans theme, award presentations to members of our four affiliated service units and some pretty good singers to round off the event and it should be a good night.
In fact I think it might have been undersold at £200 a head but too late to worry about that now!
As of the 27th April 2023, 370 seats had been sold leaving only 30 places available.
