Take the plunge for Inter-Livery Swimathon
The Inter-Livery Swimathon will again be held at the RAC Epsom on Thursday 22nd February 2018. The Swimathon will follow the format of previous years and will start at 5.00pm with the swim and will be followed at 8.00pm with an informal dinner in the Cedar Room.
This event is a fundraiser, not a competition. The idea is for teams of five (or more, or even less!) to swim a total distance of 5,000 metres in the RAC pool which is 33 metres long. Most people taking part swim 1,000 metres (34 lengths of the pool) but this is entirely up to the team captains. The total swimming time allocated is 2.5 hours by which time all teams must have completed the distance and left the pool area. The purpose of the Swimathon is to raise money for charity and we hope that some of the funds you raise will be donated to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2018 but it is left entirely to the discretion of the competing Companies as to how funds are raised and allocated. The team which raises the most money for charity will be presented with a silver plate provided by Sir Brian Hill.
The swim will be followed by an informal dinner at the RAC Club for those who wish to stay and it is hoped that the Masters/Prime Wardens of participating Companies will wish to attend. The charge for dinner has not yet been set but is likely to be in the region of £60 per head plus drinks.
There is limited space at the poolside for spectators but guests are welcome for dinner afterwards. There is an administration cost of £30 per team payable to The Chartered Surveyors’ Company.
If you would like to enter a team, please advise Clerk Amanda Jackson of the Surveyors’ Company on wccsurveyors@btinternet.com by no later than Monday 15th January 2018. There is capacity for 20 teams so should this event be over-subscribed, entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
