Summer Court Dinner onboard HQS Wellington – 19th July
The weather was kind – not too hot – and following the drinks reception on the quarter deck, the dinner proceeded apace and included the presentation of awards to our four affiliated military units.
State-of-the-nation addresses were made by the four commanding officers.
At the end of the evening Alan Spence presented to the Master, the Loving Cup of England, which he had commissioned in 2007.
The Cup was intended to bring the country together and re-claim England’s flag for the nation. The Loving Cup, featuring St George of England, visited every city in the nation where it was used in earnest to bring all ethnic groups together. In addition, the Loving Cup was carried onboard the Battle of Britain Flight Lancaster Bomber and was flown over the whole of England.
The Master, having acquired the Loving Cup for the Coachmakers, handed it to the Senior Warden, indicating that henceforth each Master would be the custodian of the Loving Cup of England.
Once more, may I thank all Wardens, Past Masters, Chairmen of Committees and Liverymen for all your invaluable and generous support throughout the year.
