Silverstone Lap Land – a wonderful time had by all

Oscar enjoying his birthday

Further to the Master’s Christmas message where Sarah announced a quick fire Christmas gift competition to win tickets to Silverstone’s Lap Land laser light extravaganza, we are delighted to inform you that all tickets were sold out before lunchtime, within hours of Coachlines and the Master’s video message being sent out.

The first phone call came in to the Master at 8.50am with a tentative sounding Liveryman Charlie Burrell who was convinced he may have already missed the boat. He was thrilled to know he was the first caller and very generously made a donation to the charity fund securing a ticket which was to be a gift for his son Oscar, who was to celebrate his sixth birthday on the very day of the Lap Land tour. They had a wonderful time.

The second ticket was taken by Liveryman Hugh Mayes and the last ticket by Liveryman Peter Dias who both made very generous donations to the charitable fund.

Sadly due to the Government’s tier change half way through the holidays, Peter and his wife were unable to make the event but in true Coachmaker spirit, and with great kindness and generosity, have been insistent that we retain his charitable donation.

Hugh and Charlie both got in touch to thank the Master for their festive experience.

“We now claim the Coachmakers’ record for the slowest lap of the Silverstone GP circuit!” said Hugh. “We took video both with my Garmin crash cam and the iPhone and the clarity with the iPhone is spectacular. Judi’s arm was getting a bit tired towards the end but she stuck with it like a goodun’. A bonus is the full moon which came into view on the Hamilton straight. You also get her remarks comparing the lap to her passenger ride on a BRDC test day! Thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy the experience, we hope the video will enable others to enjoy it too.” Click below to watch the video.

“Thank you for organising our trip to Silverstone,” said Charlie. “We all had a fabulous time, in particular my youngest son, Oscar. Oscar turned six on the day we visited, and as you can see in the photo, thoroughly enjoyed it! As we went around the track we also even managed to get Oscar a birthday “shout out” from the DJ on “Silverstone radio!”

The Master wishes to thank all of you for your generous donations and for those who missed the boat, we understand Silverstone is going to run the same event next year.
