Liveryman Mark Broadbent continues his exclusive series of videos

This issue, Mark talks us through the horse drawn equivalent of a fleet of family cars. All the carriages come from a sale at Althrop House in 2010 and are owned by Liveryman Portia Kennaway. The various carriages featured date from the mid-19th century. In particular, the Park Drag was used by the 5th Earl Spencer when he was serving as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland in 1882, so must have been made in the 1870s. One of the coachmakers featured, Peters and Sons of Park Street was making in the mid 1800s and exhibited at the 1862 London International Exhibition.

Sit back and enjoy this fascinating insight into the luxurious world of 19th century travel.
