The Master Coachmaker invites Liverymen and their guests to be part of the Lord Mayor’s Show, joining the other Livery Companies to lead the new Lord Mayor of London as he processes through the City in his magnificent gold state coach.
The three-mile route travels from Bank to Aldwych, via St Paul’s, and then returns along Embankment.
To complete the Coachmakers’ entry we will be walking alongside the Millennium Coach. Completed in 2001, the coach was built by Fenix Carriages in a traditional manner, with construction taking nearly 3,000 man-hours over a 15-month period. The body is constructed from seasoned ash, all the ironwork for the chassis was hand-forged by Assistant Mark Broadbent and his team, and it was finished to its full glory with more than 18 coats of paint.
The coach is currently displayed, on behalf of the owners, as part of the collection at Fenix Carriages in Devon.
Alternatively, if you wish to watch this magnificent procession from the grandstand, please contact Honorary Assistant Richard Robinson directly for more information.
For those who wish to join, a restaurant will be reserved in the City for a late lunch after the Show.
The Master asks Liverymen to make a big effort to come and support your Livery and the new Lord Mayor in the City of London’s most spectacular event of the year. This is the Coachmakers’ opportunity to show our commitment to the City of London, so it would be wonderful to see a good number of Coachmakers take part on the day.
Participation in the Show is free of charge, but it is essential Liverymen book their places here.
