This year we break with recent tradition and feature rather more horsepower than usual. Following on from the Banquet, we are sticking with the jet engine theme and will have as our main feature Bluebird K7, the jet-engined hydroplane that was piloted by speed ace Donald Campbell to break the outright World Water Speed Record on six separate occasions between 1955 and 1959.
Bluebird K7 will be accompanied by a vintage bus, restored by the Master Carmen. To crown it all off, our entry will be led by the Royal British Legion Band, premiering a specially composed piece of music – The Bluebird K7 March – written by our very own Clerk, Lt Col Craig Hallatt. This really is not a year to miss.
Our float will join the other Livery Companies and City institutions in leading the new Lady Mayor of London on a three-mile processional route from Bank to Aldwych, via St Paul’s, before returning along Embankment, after a half-way break and picnic.
Participation in the Show is free of charge, but places are very limited. Liverymen are asked to register their interest through the booking system, with places assigned by ballot.
There will be a charge for the half-way picnic and the post Show lunch is on a self-pay basis.
Alternatively, if you wish to watch this magnificent procession from the Lady Mayor’s Enclosure by St Paul’s Cathedral, please contact Honorary Assistant Richard Robinson directly for more information. Please note these tickets are standing only.
