You are invited to join fellow Liverymen to hear Giles Taylor talk about what the role of a car designer is really like.
Many of us doodled cars in our youth but didn’t take that interest into a career. Giles will reveal how he came into a life in car design and where the role of the designer fits into the creation of the car. He will elaborate on a day in the life of a car designer, and provide a behind-the-scenes view of the role with anecdotes from some of the vehicle projects he has worked on in his career.
Looking forward, Giles will outline some of the challenges and opportunities provided by electrification. Giles has kindly agreed to answer questions raised in advance and, time permitting, on the evening.
Giles was the Coachmakers’ 1989 Motor Car Centenary Bursary Award Winner and is a Court Assistant of the Livery. He started his career designing for Automobiles Citroen in Paris before moving to Jaguar Cars as Chief Designer and then to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars as Director of Design. Giles is currently Vice President of Design for FAW China and responsible for three significant brands at the forefront of the highly competitive automotive market in China.
The event will be hosted via Zoom. There are just 20 tickets available for the evening.
The Zoom meeting room will open at 1745 hrs. 60 minutes of talk and questions will commence at 1800 hrs.
The ticket price is £30 per e-mail address.
