Coachmakers take aim

The second Coachmakers game-shooting day of the season took place at the Hadley Estate on 1st December. The day consisted of four drives shot by a team of 10 guns. The team was made up of Coachmakers and friends, with the Coachmakers contingent comprising:

Alastair Boyes
Nick Brayshaw
Mike Dearden
Martin Derrick
Bob Dover
Peter Pollock
Desmond Smail

Coachmakers assembled the night before for a delicious pre-shoot dinner at The Bowling Green Inn, retiring to bed for shooting the following day. The day started out with the team meeting for a hearty breakfast at the Bowling Green, followed by further bacon rolls and coffee at the shooting lodge – we certainly were well fed. After breakfast, pegs were drawn and a shoot briefing was made before heading out for the first two drives of the day, after which elevenses were taken in the field. Another two-drive was followed by a delicious game casserole for lunch. Overall, it was a great day and we were certainly very luck with brilliant weather. Head Gamekeeper Adam hosted very generously and presented challenging and evenly spread partridge and pheasant along the gun-line.

The next Coachmakers’ shooting day will be the Inter-Livery shoot on 17th May. We are looking to field a team, maybe even two, if we can assemble enough team members. Please contact Alastair Boyes should you wish to attend.
