16.12.21 Liveryman Alastair Boyes

Coachmakers on target

The second Coachmakers’ clay pigeon event was hosted by the welcoming team at Atkin Grant & Lang, in Hertfordshire on 13th November, writes Liveryman Alastair Boyes. The day started with hearty bacon rolls and decent coffee, (these are probably the best bacon rolls I have had at a shooting ground to date!).

The format of the day was to shoot some practice targets in the morning, followed by a competition in the afternoon. The group was split into two teams who shot eight stands of various and challenging targets, some easier than others, where everyone seemed to get their eye in. We then broke for coffee and a debrief of either excellent or not-so-excellent performance. The afternoon competition took the form of eight stands with the group shooting together for maximum support/intimidation!

After shooting, lunch was taken at The Alford Arms in Frithsden, Hertfordshire, where we met Immediate Past Master Sarah Jane Adams-Diffey and Liveryman Jeff Stow. The weather was kind and the day was enjoyed by all, leaving us keen for future events.

The team on the days were:
Alastair Boyes
John Boyes
Robert Crofton
Oliver Gatland-Pendleton
Laurence Pawson
Simon Pratt

The next Coachmakers’ clay pigeon shooting event will be held on 26th February at Kilworth Shooting Ground. More info to follow nearer the time.
