Coachmakers make a Williams pit stop

A fortunate number of Liverymen watched the US Formula 1 Grand Prix live in the Williams Conference Centre in Wantage, Oxfordshire in October. There was a live link up to one of the drivers, live control room link up, a VIP guest appearance and live race screening.

The Sunday evening was a huge success – as was to be expected – with proper F1 style timing, event management and staff. The Liverymen present clearly all enjoyed it.

We also had the opportunity to view the Williams Grand Prix Collection, with Coachmakers being given the chance to test their speed in a simulator, a pit stop challenge and supersized Scalextric.

Then we got a remarkable close up of the factory operation the next day. As we were one down, a Donington colleague joined us to make 10 on the tour. It was truly fascinating, even for those who have been in this business for 40 years.
