An appeal on behalf of Ukraine
At the Automotive Industry Dinner on 24th March 2022, the Master invited all those attending to make a donation towards the relief effort in support of Ukraine. With Gift Aid, a total of £1,595 was collected which will be handed to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
As mentioned previously, the DEC brings 15 of the leading aid charities together to help with a disaster as quickly and efficiently as possible. They have presence on the ground in Ukraine through the charities involved which have been working to support the people of Ukraine since the conflict began.
Regarding Rost Braharnyk, the Under Beadle at Tallow Chandlers’ Hall, his mother and niece have made it to the UK via Paris where they had to wait for visas to be issued to allow them to join him in the UK. His father, brother and grandmother, with seven other family members and their pets remain in Chirnihiv in the north-east of the country. The city has been subjected to bombing and shelling almost constantly and modern communications means that Rost has been updated daily about what is happening; it is a harrowing story.
Should you wish to make a personal donation to the DEC, the best way to do so is via the website at www.dec.org.uk.
