The annual Carol Service, arranged in collaboration with the Fan Makers and the Glass Sellers, is held at St James’ Garlickhythe on Upper Thames Street in mid December. The service, with a collection for charity, starts at 1800 hrs and follows a traditional theme. It is followed by supper at Skinners’ Hall in Dow Gate Hill just a short walk away. Refreshment includes a mulled wine reception and an informal 2 course supper with wine. There is no seating plan & carriages are at 9.30pm.
The limiting factor for this event is the capacity of the church rather than the hall and we share places equitably (40 places each) between the 3 Liveries. Applications are accepted, therefore, on a first received basis and guests are welcome subject to availability of seats.
Invitations to book will be sent out approximately 4 weeks before the event and the Clerk will acknowledge with official meal cards, which must be presented at the supper.
This is a relaxed and friendly family event, which always receives favourable reviews. Many who regularly attend regard this as the start to their Christmas.
