In 1970 following a long period of deliberation, the Court of the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers and Coach Harness Makers decided to establish the Livery Committee in order to promote communication between the Court and the Livery.     arrowmore

THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY DINNER
When the horse-drawn carriage was superseded at the turn of the century the number of coachmakers who changed with the times was not large and their number diminished even more when hand-made motor coachwork gave way to the all steel pressed body of the mass produced cars.     arrowmore

At the outbreak of war in 1914 all social activity in the Livery came to a halt until 1927 when Prince Arthur of Connaught was invited to become a guest of the Company.     arrowmore

THE ANNUAL INTER-LIVERY CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING COMPETITION
The Annual Inter-Livery Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition, of which the Coachmakers were founder competitors, is an annual event held at the world famous shooting grounds of Holland and Holland, Northwood, Middlesex.     arrowmore

THE ELECTION OF SHERIFFS
The Election of Sheriffs is a colourful and formal ceremony-held in the historic setting of Guildhall. In the past, Liverymen were required to attend and, although absence is-no longer a ‘fining’ offence, Liverymen will wish to exercise-their Franchise in the new circumstances of the Mayorality of the City.     arrowmore

image BRITISH DRIVING SOCIETY ANNUAL SHOW AT SMITHS LAWN, THE GREAT PARK, WINDSOR
After the Second World War there was a revival of interest in carriage driving when a historical pageant of horse-drawn carriages at the Royal Agricultural Society’s show at Windsor Great Park led to the formation of the British Driving Society.     arrowmore

Victor Gauntlett joined the Royal Air Force as a young man on a short service commission and there after moved on to a most successful entrepreneurial career in industry where he founded a major petroleum company and famously rescued Aston Martin Lagonda from certain extinction.     arrowmore

The first Mayor of London was Henry Fitz-Ailwyn in 1189 but before then, London was ruled by the Sheriffs and a Portreeve. The title Lord Mayor first appears in the Latin of the 13th century as Dominus Major, and by the 16th century the prefix Right Honourable was in use.     arrowmore

The Lord Mayor’s Show, which is an annual celebration of the new Lord Mayor assuming office takes place on the second Saturday in November.     arrowmore

On the Monday prior to Remembrance weekend the Masters and Clerks of the City Livery Companies assemble at 10.45 am in the Garden at the east end of St Paul’s Cathedral for an open air Remembrance Service.     arrowmore

AUDIT COURT & AEROSPACE INDUSTRY DINNER
The Company had its genesis as a quality control organisation operating in a clearly defined area of London within the trade of Coachmaking and Coach Harness making.     arrowmore

The annual Carol Service, arranged in collaboration with the Fan Makers and the Glass Sellers, is held at St James’ Garlickhythe on Upper Thames Street in mid December.     arrowmore

THE GUILDS OF THE CITY OF LONDON ANNUAL UNITED SERVICE
The United Guilds of the City of London Annual United Service is one of the most colourful and interesting events in the Livery calendar.     arrowmore
