Procedure for Election
1. Liverymen may nominate a candidate for election to the Livery, but 2 Court members must Propose and Second the candidate.

2. Nominators are to advise the Clerk in writing of a potential candidate's name and address and of the names of those Court members who have agreed to Propose and Second the candidate. In the event that the candidate is not known to any member of the Court, the nominator should advise the Clerk accordingly and he will make arrangements for the necessary introductions. The Clerk will forward the Election Candidature Form to the candidate for completion and return.

3. On return of the Candidature form, the Clerk will forward 'Supporting Forms' to the Proposer and Seconder for completion. After completion the Clerk will circulate these 3 forms to all Court members. Subject to the Court's agreement in committee, elected candidates will be sworn to the Freedom at the next Court Meeting. The candidate, now a Freeman of the Livery is required to present to the Clerk his election fine and a signed direct debit mandate for annual subscriptions. The newly elected Freeman is then invited to dine with the Livery as a guest of the Company.

4. The Clerk will provide the Freeman with documentation to support his application for the Freedom of the City of London. The Livery Freeman is required to make two visits to the Chamberlain's Court within 3 months of his being sworn to the Freedom of the Livery to gain admittance to the Freedom of the City of London.

5. In the event that the individual is already a Freeman of the City of London there is still a requirement to attend the Chamberlain's Court at Guildhall to present in person the Livery documentation which confirms the individual as a Freeman of the Livery. The Freeman may not become a Liveryman until the Chamberlain's Court has registered the individual as a Freeman of the Livery. It is, therefore, important to attend the Chamberlain's Court immediately after being sworn to the Freedom of the Livery because there are only 5 Court Meetings during the year to facilitate an individual joining the Livery.

6. The Livery Freeman will forward to the Clerk evidence of his/her admittance to the Freedom of the City of London or in the case of extant Freeman of the City confirmation of registration with the Chamberlain's Court. On receipt of such evidence the Clerk will advise the Court that the Freeman may be sworn to the Livery at the next Court meeting.

7. Once sworn to the Livery the individual becomes a full Liveryman entitled to the privileges thereof including the opportunity to bring guests to Livery functions.
